Job Description:
Reporting to the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Domaine de Chantilly, and the Executive Director, Fondation de Chantilly, the Senior Director of Development and Communications of the Friends of the Domaine de Chantilly (the Friends) is a newly created position. The major responsibility of the successful candidate will be to build awareness and philanthropic support in North America for the estate restoration and programs. As a non-profit entity in the USA, the Friends entity is the base for soliciting donations and grants. While this is initially a one-person staff, it is anticipated that the Senior Director of Development and Communications will, over time, be supported by administrative staff and a network of volunteers. Working with the FDC, the Senior Director of Development and Communications will develop and implement strategies for raising major gifts from individuals, foundations and corporations to support the effort to safeguard this unique historic site.

The position requires a highly entrepreneurial individual who will create and build a network of supporters and programs in the United States. Frequent travel to France and within the United States is anticipated. Currently, the office for the Friends is located in Washington, DC, but a foothold and knowledge of the New York and US national philanthropic landscape is essential. The position may be located in either New York City and/or Washington, DC. Americans interested in French culture, history, art, and gardens, as well as enthusiasts of horses and horse racing, will form the basis of this support group. Goals over time will be to build chapters in key states throughout the United States (California, New York, Illinois, Texas, and others) with programs here and in France to attract philanthropic support.
