Gotham's 2nd Annual Battle of the Bands takes place next Sunday, March 16 at the Martin Luther School in Maspeth (please scroll down for more details).
Among the eight contestants,  Redwood Dawn. 
Read about them below (and learn why I titled my post appropriately).  
You can hear and see them play on Sunday.  
Check them and the other seven contestants out.
I need your help.  As a BOTB judge, audience reaction is just one of the measures that can influence the decisions of the distinguished panel on which I participate.  So please attend.

Redwood Dawn


Redwood Dawn was founded in late 2012 by re-uniting the former members of a Queens/Manhattan based commercial hard rock band named Cloak and Dagger with the bass player Nader Ashway that played in the band that supported the off-Broadway version of the American tribal love-rock musical, HAIR. Mr Ashway was playing in the band as Israel Bien was playing the lead role of Berger in the show. Israel and his bandmates, Anthony Dalleva on guitar and Hans Maag on Drums had played together for years but were eagerly awaiting the opportunity to try it again with Nader now that we all “grew up”!

 So here we have it…with ancestral roots in Israel, Italy, Egypt and Germany/Argentina, these guys pull it all out and somehow magically bring it back together with very fun, melodic and hooky rock and roll songs. The band does not depend on synthetic embellishments to get a big sound. One guitar, one bass, a drum kit and powerful vocal harmonies are all they need!!

*Take exit 17E-17W for I-278 Etoward Bronx
*Take exit 18 toward Maurice Ave
*Merge onto Borden Ave
*Turn right onto 60th St
*Turn left onto Maspeth Ave
*Destination will be on the right [Martin Luther High School, 60-02 Maspeth Ave., Maspeth, NY 11378]
 
From Ed Koch Queensborough Bridge Upper Roadway:
*at end of ramp turn left onto Thompson Ave.
*Turn right onto Van Dam St
*Turn left onto Borden Ave / LIE service road just passed LIE overpass
* Take the ramp to Borden Ave
* Follow signs for I-278 E/La Guardia/Airport/Bronx/I-495 Alt/Maurice Ave.
*Take exit 18 on the left toward Maurice Ave.
*Merge onto Borden Ave.
*Turn right onto 60th St
*Turn left onto Maspeth Ave.
*Destination will be on the right
 
From Long Island;
*LIE westbound
+Take exit 19 toward NY-25/Queens Blvd/Woodhaven Blvd
*Keep left at the fork, follow signs for I-495 W
+Follow signs for 69 Street/Grand Avenue and merge onto Borden Ave
*Turn left onto Grand Ave

* Slight right onto Maspeth Ave
