I was pleased on June 26 to give my opinions to the FDA as they contemplate revising the Rules on the Nutrition and Supplement Facts Label that they should change the reporting of Grams of Sugar to Teaspoons of sugar since only 5% of Americans understand the Metric System.  For example, if Americans were aware that an average 12 ounce can of soda, which lists that it contains 48 grams of sugar, listed that it actually contains 12 teaspoons of sugar, we would drink fewer sodas and other sugary drinks, thus reducing our risk of Type II Diabetes, Cardiovascular Problems and certain types of Cancer.
