Title: Intern
Date: April 2014
Business Unit: Capital & Learning and Development
Location: NYC

Position Summary:

Next Street Financial is seeking a part-time intern to work closely with
the Capital and Learning and Development teams. Next Street Financial was
founded in 2005 on an idea: to equip urban business owners and nonprofit
leaders with the same level of talent that Wall Street, Madison Avenue, and
the elite management consultancies provide to Fortune 500 CEOs. Our clients
are successful organizations with revenue of $5 million to $100 million. We
connect the dots at every level and in multiple industries to create a
network that sustains small business growth and wealth creation in
America’s inner cities. We deliver game-changing impact to our “urban blue
chip” clients, getting them to the next level and unleashing the power of
enterprise to create jobs in the communities that need them most. We look
for people who combine significant experience in their field at large
organizations with a passion for building small companies in urban markets:
people who love cities, love business, and thrive on challenge. No matter
the position, you will work with talented, committed professionals in
finance, strategic business planning, and talent management. This unique
integrated service model gives us the ability to finance and implement the
growth solutions we propose. Every member of our team will tell you that
this is enormously satisfying work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support the Capital team in its investment sourcing and diligence efforts
• Spread historical financials and perform preliminary financial analysis
• Perform any ad hoc assignments to further support the team

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or other quantitative
background, with strong academic performance
• Strong analytical skills, including experience working with financial
statements and a basic foundation in accounting and finance
• Flexibility to work part time, approximately 5 hours per week, but must
possess a strong work ethic and ability to meet deadlines
• Demonstrated initiative and capacity for teamwork
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Commitment to Next Street’s mission and urban enterprise development
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly
as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship

This is Next Street: a merchant bank for the urban enterprise.
