DEPUTY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

HFLS, a highly innovative Jewish microfinance organization, seeks a Deputy Executive Director (DED). The DED manages the lending operations of the agency, supervises staff, and oversees the marketing and evaluation of our loan programs. Reporting to the Executive Director, the DED represents the agency with a wide range of stakeholders, including community‐based organization partners, funders, our “Next Generation” leadership board, other microfinance organizations, UJA‐Federation and others. The DED will play a key role in assisting the Executive Director in staffing a consultant‐facilitated strategic planning process scheduled to launch in early 2014.

We seek a professional with appropriate undergraduate or graduate training in finance, accounting, business, law or not‐for‐profit management, who is both a take‐charge problem solver and a team player, capable of planning and executing complex projects. The successful candidate will have substantial knowledge of New York’s Jewish community, superior interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with clients, staff and organizational partners from diverse cultural backgrounds, relevant supervisory experience, and strong writing and presentation skills.
