[Fredslist] Lawyer needed to assist with medical record mistake

Good morning Gotham, 

 

I have a policyholder who went into the hospital for one illness, and during
the admittance process, someone from medical records added that he had
diabetes to his medical history in error, and then billed out the stay with
a diagnosis code for diabetes. Now, even thought he does not have, nor has
never had diabetes, it is now on his medical record. He is now facing issues
with insurance companies, will now pay more for any life, or health
policies, etc. When the head of medical records was confronted with the
mistake, and asked what can be done, she said "sue the hospital". 

 

My policyholder is not sure if that is the route he would like to take, but
would like guidance in how to clear his now marred medical record. Can
anyone help? Thanks.
