New Restoration! Despite their fab new Upper West Side apartment in the venerable Dakota, complete with eerily avuncular neighbors, nice kid Mia Farrow's career-obsessed actor husband is still looking for that big break. But then a Broadway lead looms when the star mysteriously goes blind, and Farrow gets in the family way after an evening of wild love-making - but wait...was that hubby, or some sort of horned beast? Suddenly every harried mom-to-be's nightmare seems true, with Farrow getting no help even from her obstetricians. Revitalizing and legitimizing a once-B-grade genre, Rosemary paved the way for future blockbusters like The Exorcist, Jaws, The Omen, and Alien. The best way to enjoy New York is by walking its streets, but the only way to taste New York is by eating its pizza. You can do both with a NYC Pizza Walk! Little Italy's streets once overflowed with peddlers and fruit carts as the tenement buildings teemed with the disillusioned, transplanted from home and in search of a better life. It was here that a peasants' meal called "pizza" made its debut in America. This tour focuses on pizza from a historical perspective. It starts at America's oldest pizzeria and follows pizza's rise to ubiquity block by block. All this talking about pizza will undoubtedly make you hungry, so you'll have slices at 3 of New York's most significant pizzerias in Little Italy and Greenwich Village. After the Pizza Walk, you'll have a renewed appreciation for this modest dish and the people who introduced it to the masses. In 1917, Harlem was home to more than 175,000 Jews. Delight in the exteriors of grand synagogues that remind us of Harlem's Jewish past. Including the Ethiopian Hebrew Synagogue called "The Commandment Keepers." You will walk by the former homes of Temple Israel of Harlem, Congregation Shaarei Zedek, The Oheb Zedek Synagogue-home to Cantor Yossele Rosenblatt in the 1910-1920's.
