[Fredslist] Save the Date - 12-21-13 - THE MESSIAH

Hello All,  

I know it's early, but wanted to let you know  early about our Fall concert 
- Handel's Messiah - at Alice Tully  Hall. 
 
     This subject came up coincidentally in  June while dining with 2 
friends who regularly attend Riverside Choral  Society concerts.  They both are 
knowledgeable music  lovers who have seen & heard many world famous musicians 
over  the years.  
   
     Both immediately replied,  "The Messiah---?!  I'll mark that date!"  
No doubt  they've heard it more than once.  Their enthusiasm told me the  
they wanted to hear our group sing it!
 
     Another friend, an  experienced chorister who now has her own small 
wonderful group,  recently remarked that RCS attracted her because our 
conductor is also a  singer and knows how to best coach other singers.  Not all  
choral conductors are singers, she said.  She's  right.  Our rehearsals are 
intense and detailed to finely tune  dynamics, phrasing, pronunciation, 
emphasis, mood & emotion.   This is what creates nuanced and knockout  
performances for listeners. 
 
     So here's your first head's up for the end of the  year!
