[Fredslist] health insurance question

Okay insurance folks,

 

My insurance is up for renewal in November and I may be subject to the
health exchange in the process.. Putting that aside for now

 

Yesterday I was told that the premium I pay for Oxford liberty for 2013, I
can get 40%  month less.  While I'm suspicious of it and I have asked for a
copy of the insurance coverage and the name of the broker, unfortunately
someone went online as saw it for 40% less without comparing apples to
apples and state to state. They didn't even check if it was a premium for
NY.

 

So I'm putting this out there. Is it possible to pay under $500 a month for
single individual - small group (without the exchange involved) or via a
co-operative/large group/association .. Etc.  What are the possible options
in NY and what's the real answer.

The person who started this nightmare happens to be a DPM who might get that
from a group coverage or an association/co-op.   I just need the real answer
and the ability to prove it.
