[Fredslist] Gotham Internet Help: Dot Com vs. Dot Org?

Dear Gothams,
Could someone please explain when to use .org versus  .com?  Is there a 
legal or tax reason or just an arbitrary decision in the  same manner a married 
female may use Ms. or Mrs.?
