LGBTQ??  I think that's way too restrictive and exclusionary a name.  

 

Since I'm no longer a member of the group I guess my vote doesn't count, but
as a former member I would suggest a more inclusive name, such as the Gotham
"LGBTQPFLGBTQ" group: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning and
Parents and Friends of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgendered and
Questioners"  Then, I think, we'll have the whole universe covered!

Hi Everyone, IT IS NOW OFFICIAL!  We have changed  the name of our group,
from GLBT to LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning).
This appears to be the most common nomenclature for the LGBTQ community and
in an effort to stay apace with the times, we are changing our official
Gotham name.  

 

The latest historical news has been wonderful as marriage equality is
sweeping across the nation, from Washington and Maryland as the latest
states to pass marriage equality and the current  NJ   court case has just
ruled that this is both a Federal and State Equal Protection issue.  Even
though NJ governor Christie has vetoed the solid Legislature vote to pass
Marriage Equality last week, we are all hopeful that our dignity and rights
will not be denied and NJ will soon join NY State and the others in granting
this basic civil right.  We will keep you posted. 

 

We welcome you all to visit our group at our next meeting on March 1 to
celebrate with our joint meeting with the Green Group.  We promise lots of
fun and great networking.  As it is a joint meeting, there is no worry for
the non-compete rule, it is not in effect on March 1.  But do RSVP to so I
can keep track of attendees.
