Thanks for sharing this heartwarming story. It restores faith in humanity. It is amazing the kindness and generosity that surfaces when one faces a real human crisis and losing keys can be one of the most vexing experiences. There is probably a small army of unseen angels orchestrating the entire drama with the message "You are not alone". Though I suspect you may wear your keys around your neck on you next visit to Central Park.

Gotham,

I've been encouraged to share an adventure with you.  You've already read
about my dog and me taking part in Ronald McDonald House's Angel on a Leash
Walk.  But here, dear readers, is THE REST OF THE STORY about the sheer
good nature of people:

We returned to my car parked on 84th Street to go home, but my keys were
gone!

Frantic, I ran with Annie back to the park.  Most walkers were gone, and
the tables were being taken down.  I called out about my keys - no one had
seen them.  The police officer who had been on duty at the event offered to
walk the promenade with me to find them.  We walked all the way up and
back.  Nothing.  She had me empty my purse and tote bag onto a bench to be
sure I didn't have them.  I wonder what passers-by thought!  We left the
park and retraced my steps to my car.  Peered inside.  Still nothing.  We
began to retrace my steps back to the park and there, taped to a Riverside
Drive light pole, was a big handwritten sign:  "LOST KEYS?  See doorman at
No. xxx Riverside Drive."  We dashed to the building and the young doorman
opened his desk and pulled out my keys!  An anonymous Good Samaritan had
found them and hung the keys from the "walk" button on the light pole, and
he'd taken them for safekeeping (so no one would steal my car) and put up
the note.  What a happy relief!  We all hugged!  My grateful thanks to the
3 Guardian Angels who were there for me that day!
