Irene causes flooding, erosion, and downed trees
The Parks Department has been working hard to recover from the damage caused by tropical storm Irene. Hundreds of trees in parks and on city streets were downed or damaged, playgrounds were flooded, and some beaches were eroded. To read more about how the Parks Department is dealing with the effects of Irene, click here. To find volunteer events to help clean up parks damaged by the storm, go to www.nyc.gov/service.
