Happy Labor Day Gothamites!

Just passing along info re a concert next Sunday, 9/11, in Fairfield CT.
The soprano soloist, Mary Ellen Callahan, has a most lovely, agile voice
- she is a marvelous musician and has soloed for my choir on a number of
occasions. Anyone hearing her is in for a treat! You can sing along too, or
just listen & enjoy.

  Best regards,

  Iris

Dear Friends,
I hope this email finds you all well and not too affected by the
Hurricane or Tropical Storm Irene. Here on the Upper West Side in Manhattan,
we were spared almost any effects at all... A few trees down, no loss of
power, etc. I am grateful!
I'm writing to let you know about a lovely musical event coming up --
coming right up, in fact! It's on Sunday September 11th, in Connecticut,
and is both in remembrance of the victims of 9/11 and is also a fundraiser
for an organization that helps people affected by 9/11.
Details are below. I'll be singing the soprano solos, and if you'd
like to come and sing the chorus parts, that would be great! You can also
just listen.
It would be helpful to the Fairfield County Chorale who is hosting
the event if you'd let them know if you would like to come. There is a link
at the bottom for that, and one for more info.
      Be well!
         Love,
 Mary Ellen

9 11 11 Project: A National Requiem of Remembrance

The critically-acclaimed Fairfield County Chorale is the local host in a
nationwide 10th-year anniversary "9 11 11 Requiem of Remembrance Project",
sponsoring a Sing-In of Mozart's Requiem. Similar to the "Rolling Requiem"
that occurred on the first anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, this year's
event starts on the East Coast and rolls from time zone to time zone, as FCC
joins choruses from Long Island to Hawaii in a wave of remembrance with the
healing and transformative power of Mozart's incomparable music.
The Fairfield, CT Sing-In will take place at 7:00PM at St. Thomas Aquinas
R.C. Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield (I-95, exit 21).
There will be an optional brush-up rehearsal for participants at 5:45PM.
It will be conducted by FCC Guest Conductor Christine R. Howlett and
accompanied by David H. Connell, with professional soloists Mary Ellen Callahan,
Kate Maroney, Mark A. Boyle, and Curtis Streetman.
St. Thomas Church is generously co-sponsoring the event with the Fairfield
County Chorale who invites all singers to join in this open Sing-in.
Audience menbers may also just listen. A suggested donation of $11 is asked of
all participants, which includes music rental.
All proceeds from the concert benefit Voices of September 11th
(_http://voicesofseptember11.org_ (http://voicesofseptember11.org/) ), a charity based
in New Canaan which supports families and others impacted by the events of
September 11th.
