My organization, Teva Learning Center, is seeking a paid summer intern -
high school student - to begin working with us at our Farm and Nature Center
at Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds, in Wheatley Heights, NY (Suffolk County)
beginning June 27th. Please pass the job description below/attached on to

Nature Center and Farm Intern, Summer 2011

Dates: June 27, 2011 to August 26, 2011, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to
Friday plus occasional evening work. 

Summer Salary: $800 to $1,000 dependant upon experience plus extensive
training

Location: Farm and Nature Center at Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds, 75 Colonial
Springs Road, Wheatley Heights, NY (accessible by LIRR from New York City).
Intern must be able to commute to location daily.

User Group: 1800 campers 6-12 years old from 6 Jewish Community Center day
camps

 

Job Description:

*         Work cooperatively with the other intern, lead educators and
program coordinator

*         Learn about Jewish environmental education and gardening

*         Assist  lead educators with leading 5 groups of children each day

*         Help gather materials for farm from local farms, nurseries and
recycling centers

*         Help maintain and grow the farm

*         Help maintain and expand the Nature Center 

*         Help plan and prepare for camper groups

 

Required Skills:

Ability to think creatively and with a solutions-oriented approach

Genuine interest in children and enthusiasm for learning and teaching about
nature in an outdoor setting

Experience working with children, preferably in an outdoor setting

Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures.

Current CPR & First Aid Certification
