[Fredslist] U.S. Labor Data For May

Below is a summary of U.S. labor data for the month of May, which was released earlier today.  State data for the month will be available the week of June 13th.
 
·         U.S. payrolls increased by 54,000 in May, according to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics
·         The private sector added 83,000 jobs during the month
·         The unemployment rate rose to 9.1 percent. The unemployment rate for college-degreed workers is 4.5 percent
·         Temporary help services lost 1,200 jobs over the month
·         Employment in professional and business services continued to increase in May (+44,000)
·         Notable job gains occurred in accounting and bookkeeping services (+18,000) and in computer systems design and related services (+8,000)
