[Fredslist] Eye stroke?

Hi All,
Someone close to me woke up this morning and couldn't see out of one eye. An opthalmologist examined him and said it was a stroke of the eye and said nothing could be done but wait and see if it cleared. Anyone know anything about this, have any experience of this, or have a great referral?
