The NYC Department of Consumer Affairs Office of Financial Empowerment to 
receive Malcolm Forbes Award. Steve Forbes to present. This office is a bold 
initiative to educate,\empower and protect workers with low incomes so they can 
make the most of their financial resources. It represents a unique approach to 
long term financial stability by adding, for the first time, a mandate to local 
government to help pep[le of modest means save and grow their money.  Accepting 
the Award will be Jonathan Mintz, Commissioner of the NYC Department of Consumer 
Affairs since early 2006.  He is lelading the Mayor's aggressive efforts to 
fight poverty.
