[Fredslist] Urgent Mothers Day Opinion Needed

If you are buying reading material for me please give me a
gift certificate to any book store. I love technology, but
when it comes to books I much prefer the feel, smell and
experience of reading an actual book.

Nancy,

	False choices :-)

The Kindle & Nook read proprietary formats. If/when
these products
are discontinued or their estores die, you may lose access
to your books.

Amazon has already proven that they can
REVOKE/Delete books you
bought, without refunding, at any time.

Get an iPad instead. You can buy a $ 5 program that
lets you read
ebooks on the iPad. We use it to read thousands of free &
purchased ebooks.

I refuse to buy digital books or music that vendors
can revoke or
hijack at whim. If I paid for it, it's mine. Just like
real books...or
cds.

As strange as it sounds, the iPad is the most
consumer-friendly
ebook reader precisely because you can buy an app that reads
the EPUB format
(there are free softwares for Mac & PC that lets you convert
HTML, Word,
PDF, etc into EPub)
