The ITS division of Yeshiva University has been looking for a Unix System Administrator/Programmer and they've interviewed a number of people. Job Description:

The Yeshiva University Information Technology Services (ITS) department is seeking a Linux/UNIX Systems Administrator to, under general direction, configure and maintain Linux and UNIX servers, including mail servers, web servers, user management, provisioning servers and authentication servers in a heterogeneous multi-platform environment.

Responsibilities:

    * Plan and manage the migration of applications from our existing systems to a Red Hat Enterprise production environment
    * o Build Red Hat Kickstarts and perform upgrades to operating systems and software packages
    * Write and maintain Perl and shell scripts to perform system administration tasks
    * Analyze and document existing systems that use a variety of Linux versions
    * Document system configurations and administration tasks
    * Participate in consolidating and migrating servers to a virtual environment
    * Schedule and maintain upgrades in accordance with established ITS policies and procedures
    * Develop testing and production integration methodologies and participate in change control
    * Establish appropriate system monitoring facilities and tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels
    * Ensure data integrity through planned redundancy, robust design and network security tools
    * Standardize authentication methods using identity management

Requirements:

    * Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field preferred
    * 5+ years of UNIX administration experience; 2 + years working with Red Hat Enterprise Linux
    * Perl, shell script programming and TCP/IP networking experience preferred
    * Knowledge of AIX and Oracle PL/SQL preferred
    * Ability to be a self started and bring best practices to the organization
