 A friend passed on two job postings for a Coordinatorand Counselor position in new NAWC (New American Welcome Center)which will soon be opening at the Flushing Y.  I should not be contacted.

Weare looking for a candidate who is experienced in adult literacyprogram administration.  The Program Coordinator, who will report tothe Executive Director of the Flushing YMCA, is responsible for theoverall operations of the center, e.g. program coordination,community outreach, registration/in-take assessment, casemanagement/follow-up, and database management. 


Individualmust have excellent written and verbal communication skills, behighly organized, with strong attention to detail and willing to workwith the Counselor, teachers and other staff. The ideal candidatewill have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, and 3 or more years ofrelevant educational administration experience.  Candidates who arebilingual in Spanish, Chinese, Korean and/or French are preferred.Knowledge of Adult Literacy Program Administration, TeacherSupervision, Best Plus/TABE Pre- and Post-Testing and DatabaseManagement is a plus.


ResponsibilitiesInclude:

Overall Program Leadership and Administration, specifically in adult    literacy, and youth and family programming;
    

Research    referrals and resource/referral services and ensuring that students receive counseling on jobs and citizenship;
    

Creating    student files, documenting their performance goals and outcomes and helping them achieve them;
    

Registering all new students and ensuring that all receive a pre- and   post-tests;
    

Maintaining the database and ensuring complete and correct documentation;
    

Track   deadlines and maintain comprehensive calendar of audit reports and  processes and assist in filling out all appropriate forms completely    and submit them in a timely manner;     
    

Work    on special meetings/events as needed.
