[Fredslist] MANY BOOKS TO GET RID OF... NEED SUGGESTIONS

Good thinking.
 
I had a similar challenge a few years ago with some five hundred books and Fredslist produced several options include Katrina-torn Lousianna, libraries, hospitals, struggling private and public schools. However, for reasons of logistics and cartage (which the donor is asked to provide in most instances), I chose the High School for Leadership downtown. Indeed, I have an open invitation to speak about the books that most influence my life. Fred is a trustee, I believe.  And several other members I believe are on the advisory board.
 
It was very gratifying to donate a lifelong collection to such a worthy cause....and get a tax deduction.

We have a lot of books, mostly in new condition, that we need to get rid of in the next week.  We’ve considered trying to sell them, but it’s a lot of work for a return that may not be worth it.
 
So…we are considering donating them to a worthy cause.  The question becomes which cause…that’s where Gotham comes in.  
 
My wife tells me there are hundreds of books.  Many are recent releases, some date back 3-5 years.  Most of these books are non-fiction, topics include politics, political economy, Wall Street, Iraq, Afghanistan, business books of all kinds, biographies of political leaders, religion, education, terrorism, housing works, literacy, etc.  
 
If you have a good suggestions of where we can donate these books, please let me know.   There is an urgency for getting these out…we have less than a week to remove the books from their current ‘home’.
