[Fredslist] Remote Area medical flying to Haiti

Following all the suggestion to donate and help Haiti, from members of
Gotham, I must follow with one of a most authentic organizations I have ever
come across, that is Remote Area Medical.  

This group is staffed by volunteers donating their time, medical training
and often using their own resources to get to the next destination.  As it
is in this case several of these medical personal took a flight to the
Dominican Republic to meet the rest of the group traveling with a DC-3
bringing water, medical supply, generators and the rest of the volunteers to
help the people of Haiti. 

Along with the supplies needed, Remote Area Medical Foundation is seeking
help in covering the fuel costs incurred for flying to Haiti. Aircraft fuel
for the DC-3 can approach $7 per gallon in some locations, with the plane
using approximately 120 gallons of fuel per flight hour. Total flying time
to get to Haiti is 9 hours, making the one-way fuel cost as much as
$7,560.00. They are asking supporters to consider a donation toward meeting
this cost. If 750 people donate just $10 each, they can cover the cost of
fuel for a one-way trip to Haiti. And 1,500 people donating $10 each will
cover one round trip flight. Would you consider being a small and very
important part of this effort to bring relief to the suffering in Haiti?
