"Building a Successful Business Using the Internet"

 

o Are you interested in starting your own home based business?

o Is the website that supports your current business generating attracting
few visitors?

o would you like to improve your understanding of digital marketing?

 

Most businesses that utilize the internet fail because they didn't have the
knowledge needed to be successful.  This course uses a proven step by step
process to help students start and operate their own online business so that
by the last class, the business is up and running.

 

Students will gain an understanding of how to identify viable online ideas,
how to generate traffic and then how to turn this traffic into profits.  The
course starts at the very beginning of the process and is perfect for
beginners or for those that have a website, but aren't successful.  



Prerequisite: If you can write an email or business memo you have the skills
necessary.  The key to success is a willingness to devote time to developing
an online business.  Students can work at their own pace.  



Computers: Baruch College will provide a computer-equipped classroom.
Students should have a computer at home with internet access.  

 

Duration:  There are 10 classes of 3 hours for a total of 30 hours.

Workload: Students can greatly accelerate their progress by working on their
online business outside of class.  A minimum of 5 hours per week will
contribute to success.

 

Course Content:

1.	Review of the end to end process for launching and sustaining an
online business.
2.	Choosing an online business idea.
3.	Domain name (website name) selection and registration.
4.	Site design and navigation.
5.	Web page and site development.
6.	Search engine optimization
7.	Pre-selling techniques
8.	Business promotion
9.	Revenue generating techniques
10.	Internet visitor measurement 

 

Included Materials:

The course includes a full set of integrated software tools, complete online
and downloadable reference materials

and 12 months of web hosting.

Jeff works full time as a marketing director for a major New York City
internet company. He also has started several

On line businesses which will be used as case studies during the course.
Prior to his current position, Jeff was President of the Romann Group
advertising agency and has held leadership positions at Cablevision, N.W.
Ayer and Young and Rubicam.
