   Homeopathy, Chinese and western herbal medicine, and acupuncture all
strengthen immunity and treat and prevent the flu. Homeopathy has an
impressive track record in the 1918 Spanish Flu epidemic, and many of the
original Chinese herbal formulas were designed specifically for flu and
"pestilential" illnesses.
    Many of my patients keep a first aid kit of herbs and homeopathic
remedies that can be used at the onset of symptoms as well as for
prevention. Of course diet and nutrition, including using supplements as
appropriate, and lifestyle issues such as getting adequate sleep and
managing stress, remain crucial as well.
