My son will be starting medical school in the fall and my mom has given him
stocks over the years. Can anyone help me understand all the rules and
regulations concerning the selling of these to pay for his education. Does
it have to be in a special account or can it go straight from the account
that it is in as long as I guess the money goes straight to the school. At
this point he has just about enough to cover the whole thing without having
to take out loans which would be great BUT will we have to pay a lot in
taxes for selling it off even though it's going to education.
Any help in understanding all this is greatly appreciated
Thanks so much for all your help
