[Fredslist] Red Cross Oyster Bay Swim

Here is some additional information on the nassau county Red Cross  
Oyster Bay swim on August 8.

Registration on the website is a a bit confusing.  Go to http://www.nassauredcross.org/ 
  and click on the picture of the swim across.  That will take you to  
another  page with a link to the registration.

They give us towels and a swim cap.  Bring goggles.  You might want to  
put on some suntan lotion. There will be food there for the swimmers.   
You can change in the rest room.  We generally wear our suits from  
home and then change afterwards.

The swim courses are 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile and full mile.  Yo can swim  
any stroke including the doggy paddle.... taking as much time as you  
want.  For some it is a race and others are thrilled just doing it.    
It is exciting and invigorating, and the tension in the air is just  
enough to keep you alert.
