Ester-Thanks for coordinating us. I will be giving at 200 Park Ave after lunch and hope to see Gotham faces like last year. 

Anyone up to joining me for the long haul and give platelets instead of whole blood?

On Tuesday, August 11th, Gotham members from New Jersey to Boston will participate in the Gotham Gives Back Gives Blood Campaign.

Below is the information.  Please consider donating blood and let me know that you are doing it.  Ask a friend to join you.  Use it as an opportunity to create a unique networking/bonding experience. I did last year and it created new business for me.  

My twin brother had heart surgery and his leg amputated this week. He was severely anemic and needed blood in order to make it through both surgeries.  This is the time of year when blood is in very short supply yet has the highest demand.  By the end of this month or the beginning of next month blood will be rationed to area hospitals.  Gotham can make a difference even in the smallest way.  Last year 30 people stepped up.  Can we make it 10% of our 600 members this year?  Many tell me why they can’t give blood and my answer to them is who do you know that can give for you and you can accompany them?  

Are you a bit squeamish?  I’ll chat with you not only through it but we’ll have fun getting to know each other better in the process.  It’s no different than giving blood at the doctor’s office. 

Can’t come on August 11th? Then consider picking your own day/time/location and go when it works for you.  Just tell me about it and if you are in the NY/LI/NJ-Newark location use the Gotham ID#

Do you have an ailment or visited a country that you think you’ll be disqualified? Don’t assume! Contact NY blood @ 800-933-2566 for an answer. They have someone specifically trained for that particular purpose.

The only thing stopping more blood donations are the limitations and barriers many of us put in our own path.  Someone’s life hangs in the balance like my older brother, my mother, and now my twin brother in the past 90 days. What if it was one of yours?  If we ask them to “expect miracles” and we can provide it by donating blood, what better gift is there?

At Gotham, we believe what goes around, comes around! So please consider being apart of our Gotham Gives Back: Give Blood campaign. All you need to do is:

1. Choose a location where you can donate blood and what time.

a. NYC

Blood Center 200 Park Avenue in the Met Life Building above Grand Central Station from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

b. Long Island

At Temple Beth Torah, 243 Cantiague Rock Road Westbury, NY 11590 from 3:30pm – 9:00pm

c. New Jersey

New Brunswick Donor Center, 167 New Street, New Brunswick, NJ from 9:00 am – 9:00pm or

University Medical Center at Princeton Blood Donor Program

2. Networking is about creating a bond between others.  What better opportunity to create a lasting bond than by contacting friends, family, colleagues and invite them to join us for our Gotham Gives Back: Give Blood campaign.  I did it last year as a one-to-one networking opportunity with someone from New Jersey and now we are doing business together. 

3. Make sure you let the donation center know you are donating as part of Gotham Gives Back: Give Blood campaign (give them our group number 62920 if you are in NY/LI) so we can track our goals.

4. Show up for their appointment, roll up a sleeve, sit back, relax, and enjoy the

good feeling of knowing you are making a difference
