[Fredslist] Questions about re-posting blog entries

I see many blogs that re-post blog entries from other blogs and articles
from online publications.  What's the rule of thumb regarding re-posting
other's blog entries and articles?  Is it OK to do so as long as you give
the source and credit to the original post/article (with links back)?  I
can't believe that some of these blogs that have 3-5 new entries every day
are getting permission for each article.  So it seems that it is
permissible.but can't find any guidelines here.  Many thanks in advance.
