In a meeting I had with a member of the U.S. Commerce Department at the
American Embassy in Belgrade last week, I learned that there are multiple
opportunities for American businesses to sell goods and services in Serbia.
As many of you may have learned from recent newspaper and magazine articles
about the region which I can confirm from my frequent travel there, Serbia
is an economic hotspot that is not, per se, caught up in the financial
crisis in the west. In fact, there is much discussion of Belgrade taking
back the title of the business capital of Central Europe. FYI - Serbia is
not what it has been portrayed in the press over the last years. Indeed, it
is a healthy city, full of life, eager to integrate itself into the West
which includes a fantastic appetite to purchase and consume American good
and services. As an aside, they also have the best tennis players in the
world.

This December, the Embassy is sending representatives to the northeast,
including NYC, to help American business understand the real opportunities
that exist there. If you or anyone you know has interest in learning more
about these opportunities and what they have to offer, please contact me or
Cameron Werker, Senior Commercial Officer at the Embassy, at
cameron.werker at mail.doc.gov.

Thanks. Have a great day.
