This sounded like a cool thing to do for those interested in ballet.
Join us on Saturday Night February 23 for a fantastic ballet
performance with a private backstage and on stage tour from one of
the NYCB principal dancers.
We did this tour 2 weeks ago and it was absolutely amazing. I'm sure
it's every little ballerina's dream to stand on that stage. It took
my breath away. Our last tour guide Jared Angle was one of the
principal dancers of the NYCB so we got to see him up close and
personal and then dancing. It was amazing.

At 6:30 PM we have organized a private event to "Meet A Dancer".
Before the ballet our members will be treated to a private 45 minute
talk with one of the dancers. The dancer will escort us and share
insights into the life of a dancer and answer any questions about the
performance we will be attending. He or she will also share
interesting moments from the history of both NYCB and their home the
New York State Theater. The breathtaking highlight of the evening
will be the view of the auditorium from on-stage. How cool is that!
At 7.30 PM we will meet with an NYCB docent who will be giving our
members a different private tour. This tour will allow us to learn
more about the company and gain an insight into the program they will
be seeing, the dancers who are dancing and any other important notes.
At 8:00 PM we will be seated for the ballet. Our tickets are in the
4th ring seating area.
This Ballet Program is called "Matters of the Heart" and features 4
pieces:
1. Raymonda Variations (29 min): Dance to the first act of the full
length ballet Raymonda (PAUSE)
2. The Steadfast Tin Soldier (12 min): Based loosely on the Hans
Christian Anderson fairy tale and focuses on the wistful courtship
and love between a tin soldier and paper doll ballerina.
3. The Nightingale and the Rose (24 min): Taken from Oscar Wilde's
fable, the nightingale knows something about life that the human
characters don't. The bird understands the meaning of love and
selflessness, while the student and the professors daughter display a
modern kind of self absorption. The nightingale, in a noble act of
devotion to the young man, gives up her life to produce the red rose
he needs to win the girls affection. Unfortunately, the sacrifice
goes unrewarded. A pas de Deux (dance of 2) between the Nightingale
and the Student is the emotional center of the ballet.
4. Robert Schumann's "Davidsbündlertänze (42 min)a series of dances
for 4 couples.
