That's very generous of you, Mitchell. I am sure there are many organizations that would be eager to take you up on your offer to volunteer.

Here's one thought: For the past 19 years, I and my firm, Practice Development Counsel, have been making a donation to City Harvest at holiday time in the names of my clients and referrals sources. (I am invited to friends on Christmas Day every year, so I have not donated my time.) I think City Harvest is a wonderful organization because, not only does it feed the hungry, but it collects food from restaurants, hotels, etc. that is very good and would otherwise go to waste and be thrown out. I suggest you contact City Harvest and see how you could help there or at an organization they could refer you to.

Again, thank you for demonstrating the best kind of holiday spirit. This year the need for that is huge!
Phyllis

Subject: [Fredslist] Looking for Volunteer Opportunity in Manhattan onChristmas Day

Being a single Jewish guy in NY, I sometimes have some free time on Christmas Day. Last year I realized (too late) that I should take advantage of the free time and find some worthwhile volunteer opportunity (such as preparing/serving food to the less fortunate). So, if anyone knows of something worthwhile for that day where no real skills are required (but only in Manhattan), please let me know.

  Thanks!

  Mitch.
