Richard Peck's new automobile group will be called the "Gotham Racing
Team". For the time being it will not be an official dues paying group and
will just meet periodicall for fun. The first meeting wil be held at the
Friars Club on October 22nd at 12:30. The meeting will be on our Events
calendar and you are requested to pay thereon by credit card and RSVP to
me (I will attend as I have owned an Impala with a continental kit, 1962
'vette and 1956 Porsche). See you then. "Gentlemen (and ladies) start
your engines"! Richard's thoughts and email address are below:

I sort of like the name for the group (makes us sound young!)
Below are my original notes. Here is how I see the first get together
working. Let's assume the head count is twenty. During the first hour each
attendee will have about 3 minutes to speak to the following points:
1. Personal info (name, business, home(s)
2. Automobile(s) make, model, etc.
3. One or two "auto" tips that the group might enjoy
4. One short and FUNNY personal car story ( excluding any wild sex tales!)
The last hour would be devoted to general topics (see the list below)
Of course this will all be much tighter as we get closer to 10/22.

I am already on it!

 Here are some of my notes:

1. Group meets every other month-6 times per year.
2. Lunch meeting at the Friars.
3. What day of the week that won't conflict with other Gotham groups?
Wednesday, 10/22
4. Major topics for discussion.
* Car Care...cleaning, washing, waxing. polishing....detailing operations
(this will be the most popular part of the meeting as all car lovers have
their own little secrets that most of us enjoy sharing)
* Buying and selling..how to....do's and don'ts....
* Insurance
* Tips of the road...short cuts...speed traps...future road
construction....
* Tickets...what to do when stopped....how to fight a ticket...
* NYC parking....best/ scratch safe lots...self parking...
* Repairs...auto body shops....seat repair....soft top repair...
* Discussing "your" specific car problem and who may have a solution...
* On line sites for supply purchasing...
* Other car clubs of interest...
* Possible annual club get together where members bring their favorite
car....

Fred there will always be "tons" of topic to chat about.
At the first meeting, each member could spend, say about three minutes
introducing themselves....where they live and work...what they do...their
favorite car and what they love about it...their dream/next car and one
interesting car idea or hint that the group might enjoy hearing.

........this is it for now but much more to come....RP
