Most of you don't know that in an earlier incarnation I was a classical
tenor. I'm happy to formally announce the latest in the "Love in the
Parlours" music series - - 19th Century salon music performed in the
landmarked and VERY authentic double parlors of the Merchant's House Museum
(1832) in Greenwich Village - the only intact family home from the 19th
Century remaining in Manhattan. www.merchantshouse.org

Originally slated for Sunday, June 10th, the date has been changed to
Sunday, June 24th - 5:30 pm. Admission is $20, free to museum members.

The program will last about an hour and will feature a variety of selections
for mezzo soprano, baritone and tenor, including works by Wagner, Sullivan,
Elgar, Bizet, Rossini, and others. A reception in the period kitchen will
follow, and as always, all proceeds are slated for the ultimate restoration
of the original 1844 Nunns & Fischer pianoforte which takes pride of place
in the Best Parlor.

If you arrive earlier, while the museum's period rooms are still open, you
may also catch the penultimate day of the special exhibit (May 17 - June 25)
"From Cradle to Altar: Wearing White in the 19th Century" featuring two
family wedding gowns from the Museum's renowned costume collection,
one from 1820 and one from 1872, plus additional dresses and related bridal
accessories (including lingerie and an invitation to the 1872 ceremony). A
delicately embroidered infant christening gown will also be on view.

I hope you will join me for another memorable evening of music in a unique
(and very treasured) space. All performances at the Merchant's House Museum
are sponsored by the Bond Street Euterpean Singing Society.

For more info and to reserve seats (highly recommended as seating is very
limited) contact the Merchant's House at 212 777-1089. The Museum is located
at 29 East Fourth Street, NYC, between The Bowery and Lafayette.
