The third meeting of Gotham SOLO was held on Tuesday, December 18, 2007. We
welcomed several new solo practitioners -- both from other Gotham groups and
those coming in as guests and newcomers -- and welcomed our first group of
Gotham members "riding the circuit."

The topic du jour was time management. Guest speaker Karin
Vibe-Rheymer-Stewart, Ph.D., founder of Daily Mastery, a time management and
organizational expert, addressed issues pertaining to "How Solo
Practitioners Can Effectively Deal With And Overcome Interruptions."

Among other things, Karin suggested a do-not-disturb hour (possibly two)
every day, turning off the bell or chimes on incoming emails, scheduling
times throughout the day to check and answer emails, and, when the phone
rings and you've said "Hello," ask "What can I do for you?" rather than a
more open-ended "How are you today?"

After Karin's talk, members asked questions of Karin and shared ideas on how
they manage and maximize time, the problem with constant Blackberry
interruptions, and what they do to minimize interruptions. Unfortunately, we
ran out of time! :-)

We have scheduled a guest speaker for January. If you or someone you know is
eager and willing to address the SOLO group on a topic of interest and value
to all solo practitioners, please have them send Gil Effron a brief bio of
who they are along with a synopsis what they'd like to talk about.

Next meeting is Monday, January 28, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. at the Friars Club.

Additional meeting dates in 2008 (all Mondays) are March 10, April 21
(subject to change), June 2, July 14, August 25, October 6, November 17,
December 15.

SOLO does not have a "no compete" rule. Any solo practitioner is welcome to
join. Gotham members who are currently a member of another Gotham group may
join SOLO before January 28, 2008 without having to pay an additional
application fee.

Co-chairs are Bob Formica and Gil Effron. Group coordinator is Jill
Goldstein.
