We have a Creative Director opportunity located in New York. The Creative
Director will lead and manage a fast paced department consisting of
designers, writers, developers and flash artists who are responsible for
creating an online shopping experience that maximizes sales and drives
retention.

Your primary goal will be to lead the creative strategy by defining,
approving and enforcing the web site's creative look & feel, new
functionality, content, photography, copywriting and navigation,  all with
best practices and standards. The successful candidate will have the ability
to formulate and effectively communicate a vision for the web experience to
the entire team and all levels of management. You will need a well-rounded
understanding of online design, information architecture, usability,
technology, functional and experience design.  Very strong management skills
necessary along with strong process improvement. As the Creative Director
team collaboration with business managers, production, and technology leads
are all part of the daily responsibilities and duties

This position will be focused on driving high creative standards and
coordination in offline and external internet creative, including
advertising, email and company collateral.  Passion for customer focus,
great design, usability, and converting browsers to customers is a priority.
This position reports directly to the division SVP.
 
Essential Responsibilities
 
* Provide oversight, leadership, and direction for staff
* Leadership in at least one successful website redesign and
involvement/understanding of all aspects of website design including
Information Architecture, Product Development, Front End Development,
Content, Technology and Project Management.
* Awareness and expertise in innovative web technologies. Experience in
developing world-class aesthetic design, consistency, and usability.
* Oversight and implementation management of the brand, ensuring all designs
and customer touch points accurately reflect brand values and brand
integrity. 
* Experience developing that all products and customer touch points have a
consistent look and feel and that all elements adhere to best usability
design principles. 
* 
* Drive process improvement changes with the team. Create and implement
standards for visual design and UI. Coordinate with external entities to
follow standards for web on offline efforts where appropriate.
* Co-manage the priorities project list and scheduling with peers in related
functions, including producers, marketing and IT.
* Manage and mentor designers, helping to ensure that the design product
maintains the highest level of integrity and to ensure that the
implementation of work remains consistent with established visual direction
* Oversee all creative development from conception through testing and
production with cross functional teams, ensuring an excellent user
experience. Apply creativity and consistency
* Experience in the negotiation of large vendor agreements.
* Knowledge of latest research and analysis regarding online shopping
behavior and website usability. Must also have in-depth understanding of
Ecommerce architecture.


Qualifications:
 
* BA or BS required
* Practice in Art Direction with Internet-based business (i.e., E-commerce,
Portal, Search Engine or ISP).
* 10+ years of Art Direction/Design/consumer internet experience with a
record of promotion to positions of increased responsibility. Proven
leadership skills in setting group direction, facilitating quality design
work, and mentoring team members.
* Strong understanding of benefits and constraints of current Internet
technologies.  Extensive knowledge of web production and design software
including: Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Mac OS and Windows/XP,
Macromedia Flash a plus. Familiarity with HTML,java_script, DHTML, Flash and
XML. 
* Proven ability to collaborate, work cross-functionally, gather input,
build consensus, and resolve conflicts.
* Strong understanding of front-end interactive design solutions for
back-end data systems. Working knowledge of capabilities of different
platforms and browsers, and their design constraints on the Web.
