[Fredslist] How to buy a mailing list for a NFP

Greetings Gotham, 

A small committed group in Oyster Bay, Long Island is setting up an
after-school program for low income school-age children (Oyster Bay rejected
state and federal funds to set one up, as I understand it).

To raise money for the NFP they have established, they need a targeted
mailing list ­ Nassau County, NY is probably the best bet for them.

Can one of you advise where and how to buy a mailing list and what pit falls
to look out for?
