Subject: [Fredslist] Fred's Team Volunteers Needed!

Hello Gotham network.

ING NYC Marathon training has started for the over 750 runners of Fred's Team who are raising money for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.  As many of you know, I have completed all of my 7 Marathons by running with Fred's Team and will be doing my 8th marathon on 11/4/07.  I also have a personal goal of collecting an additional $10,000 for pediatric cancer research as well as completing this marathon in 4 hours.

Below you will find a request for volunteers to help Fred's Team runners as they train on Saturday mornings to give them water and refereshments.  If you are interested in volunteering your time, please read the below information and contact Fred's Team directly.  If you would like to sponsor me, feel free to view my website at www.mskcc.org/fredsteam. Once you are in the website please go to sponsor a runner and type in my name and go to the ING NYC Marathon donation form.  To pay by check please fill out the attached sponsor form, and make it payable to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.  On the check please indicate runner ID # 111530531 and race code # E07MPDNY.  Checks can be mailed directly to me.

Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center's Marathon Program, Fred's Team, is currently training for the fall marathon season and will be logging many miles over the summer all for a worthy cause - raising funds for critical cancer research at the Center.

Our runners are in need of sustenance and emotional support during the long training runs over the next several months. To make this possible each week, we are in need of volunteers to help with setting up a "fuel" stop (Gatorade, water, Gu, Power Bars) for the weekly training runs. We'll provide the product and designate the meeting point, but are looking for volunteers to help transport the supplies to the park (one or two small coolers on wheels filled with product) and distribute it to the runners. Prior to each week's run, we'll coordinate getting the product/coolers to each volunteer. The team typically meets (in Central Park or along the West Side Highway running path) on Saturday mornings between 7:00 - 8:00 a.m. and is finished somewhere between 9-11 a.m., depending on the distance.
