I just wanted to spread the word about a fantastic course being offered by
one of our members, James A. Taibleson in Financial Statement Analysis for
Attorneys, a series of 11 NYSCLE-accredited courses aggregating 32 NYSCLE
credit hours.  James, a CPA and MBA with substantial experience in
accounting and investment banking, presented the first part of his course
yesterday covering The Basics: Understanding Accounting, The Language of
Business which I attended.  Jim, who also teaches at NYU, is filled with
enthusiasm and a wealth of knowledge.  Many people find accounting to be dry
but I found his presentation to be quite stimulating and I was brimming with
questions.  In my field of immigration and nationality law we sometimes deal
with issues involving accounting principles and theory.  From the syllabus
I've seen of Jim's course, I have the feeling that I can learn a lot from
him and I think the same holds true for many Gotham members.  And for those
who need it, you can get CLE credit too.  Sounds like a good deal to me.
