Last night the Gotham Batmen played the Gotham Bombers, a team that did not win any games their first season, and only one game their second season, only to go on to tie for first in their league last year (their third season).

This season, both Gotham teams are in a new league - an arc ball league - offering a new challenge to both teams.

The Batmen played a tough game against the phenom pitching of famous Fred Klein, among others on the Bombers' deep bench; and after briefly taking an early lead, the Bat Light shone brightly again last night during two significant rallys, one in the fourth, and again in the sixth when four batters hit for a run during the final out of the inning.

In the end, however, the Bombers defense proved too much for the Batmen's base running, and the final score was bombers 17 - batmen 10 in 7 innings.

With a rock solid infield, and some heavy bats in the line-up, the Batmen promise to be a threat to the competition heading into their third week of play.

They end this week at 0 - 2; the Bombers are 2 - 0.

PLAYS OF NOTE:

Fred Klein arguing with the ump was just shy of an "Earl Weaver moment". The debate was over a ball caught on the infield dirt by an outfielder. (Fred was right to argue, but the ump didn't give the Bombers the play).

Todd Baker's 3 two-run homers helped keep the Batmen alive.
