The adventure has begun!

Friday was the Gotham Batmen's first game of the inaugural season,
playing against the law offices of Dickstein Shapiro.

It was a fun first game and everyone played. It was the first time that
many of those who took the field have played together, and we quickly
worked through some of the new-team, first-game kinks.

The Batmen were the visiting team, and as such had the first at-bat,
jumping to an early lead with the first 4 out of 5 batters scoring. Ron
Castaldo was the Gotham Pitcher, holding the opposing team to only 3
runs in the first. Dickstein Shapiro blew the game open in the 2nd and
3rd innings while keeping the Batmen quiet until the 4th inning, when
the "bats came out" in a three run, two out rally, followed by 5 runs in
the 5th (some players claimed to have seen the Bat Signal against the
darkening sky).

Noteworthy Plays: Fernanda Franco's pop fly catch in short center field
quieted the opposing team's hitting streak in the 3rd inning, and Vinnie
Brunetti's 2 RBI, long fly ball over the center fielder's head, leading
to Vinnie caught in a game ending pickle between home plate and 3rd
base.

We had a great turnout and a valiant first outing, playing until it was
dark for a final score of Gotham Batmen 12, Dickstein Shapiro 17 in five
innings.

The next game in on Wednesday in the North Meadow of Central Park, Field
# 10 at 7:00pm, and will be played against Gotham's Fred Klein and the
Gotham Bombers.....dun, da dun dunt.......

Either way, Gotham's a winner!

Best Regards,
