[Fredslist] Int'l Driver's License

Query to Travel Agents, travelers, others:
 
   If traveling to France and renting a car there in early Sept.,  is a valid 
NY Driver's license sufficient, or is an international driver's  license 
needed?  The person in whose name car being rented is driver no. 1  but will not 
be driving; I'm listed as driver no. 2 and I'm driving.  Need  to know asap.
