Fellow Gothamites,

New York Governor George Pataki signed the Information Security Breach
and Notification Act on August 10, 2005. The law requires that
organizations, including local government agencies, notify New York
state residents when their information is stolen or compromised due to
security breaches. The law is similar to California's two-year-old
security breach notification law.
