I'm very excited about my new membership in Gotham. I've already attended a wine tasting and met some terrific people. Over the last few days, perusing the web site, I've not only discovered Fred's List, but found out that of the 44 groups, the Lefty Group is the second largest. Now that's unique! As for me, I bring an otherwise unusual trade to the group, as a ghostwriter. Yes, I'm the one that CEOs, business owners, athletes, artisans, doctors and a long list of others contact when they want to write a book but have neither the time nor the confidence to complete such an undertaking. After a wide range of writing experiences from stand up comedy to radio, and some television, to journalism, I started as an author of humor books, followed by how-to books and finally business books. Then, 12 years ago, I was asked to ghostwrite a proposal for a book by an ADHD expert. Apparently the proposal was well received because after a bidding war the author and I landed the highest advance in the history of St. Martin's Press. I had my first ghostwriting job and now, 40 books later, I'm still at it. Meanwhile, I am looking forward to meeting more Gotham members and even grabbing a helmet and riding the circuit.
